The FAAWC started giving awards to individuals in the western Connecticut area in recognition of achievements that best exemplify the FAAWC ideals.  Awards committee was formed and established a criteria of "a concrete achievement of an individual that has produced a profound impact in the Filipino-American community and best demonstrates what the FAAWC stands for." These are the following individuals who received the "KABAYAN AWARD"

They were introduced and each given a plaque of recognition by President Waldo Alarkon, Mila Manlongat, and Nestor Buan, respectively, following the officers induction ceremony during the Gala night on November 16,1996.
